Unable to delete Kmail message from systray popup notification

I have observed a strange/annoying behaviour exhibited by Kmail and am looking for confirmation before filing a bug report.

When I receive a new email and systray pops up a notification with the option to view it, clicking on the button in the notification named [Show mail…] spawns a Kmail message window wherein I can read the message but with the options to delete the mail greyed out. The toolbar button, File>Del and [Del] key are all unavailable/ineffective.

It is inconvenient to have to launch the main Kmail window just to delete a message which I have already read.

Is this by design? If so, what might be the justification for this behaviour?

Thanks.

Kmail 4.14.10/KDE Plasma 5

(Sidenote: I no longer receive email notifications to replies/subscription from this forum. All my profile settings seem to be in order. What gives?)

BUMP

Still wondering about this issue. Anyone know? It’s quite frustrating.

On KMail: your questions might be better answered by the KDE developers. openSUSE only packages the KDE software.

On your sidenote: I wouldn’t know, works here.

Well, the stand-alone message viewer does not allow to modify things, nor to delete the message, yes.
Would be a feature request I suppose.
But the KDE4 version is unmaintained since a year, so this will not get added there.

Maybe try to switch to kmail5, it is available in Leap 42.1.

I have to say that I never tried to click on that notification myself…
Actually I have set all my accounts to go offline when quitting kmail, so I don’t even get such notifications when kmail is not running.

It’s the same in kmail5.
My 2 cents: either clicking the trash icon should work, or it shouldn’t be there.

@OP: reports a bug at https//bugs.kde.org

Ok, but at least there is a chance that it may get changed there. The KDE4 version is dead (since a year).
Though AFAIK we won’t do any version updates in Leap 42.1 any more.
42.2 will of course come with a newer kmail5 version, and kmail5 only (the KDE4 version has been dropped from Factory a while ago).

Confirmed, and agree. I would prefer that it work, myself.
