unable to burn CD/DVD openSUSE 11.1 GNOME

hi

i installed linux for the first time and i wanted to burn a cd from an iso file.

when i open it with brasero and i want to burn it it sais “Please insert a recordable CD or DVD”

but i inserted a blank CD, it even shows the icon on the desktop “Blank CD-R Disc”

it does the same if i insert a blank DVD :frowning:
it does the same with other GNOME CD/DVD creator

how can i get it right?? :frowning: do i need a driver or something?

thanks

my optical drive is ASUS DRW-1608P2

Hi
There is a bug related to this
DVD & Audio CD cannot play in all multimedia apps. In YaST under your user name add yourself to the groups
cdrom and disk.

Not sure but you may also need to edit the file;

/usr/share/PolicyKit/policy/org.freedesktop.hal.device-access.policy

See the link above for further details.

Try K3b. If U havn’t installed it during system installation install it from your OpenSUse dvd using Yast Software Manager. You may also try this:
Open a folder in gnome and in address bar type burn:/// . Drag-drop files there and burn.

i tryed all that you sugested, but still doesn’t work
it seems that he can’t see the media as a blank cd/dvd :frowning:
