Why openSUSE 11.1 have so ugly graphics? The installer is so bud ugly and that GNOME wallpaper… I don’t understand, why changing it while 11.0 was so pretty…
I can relate to the default wallpaper in GNOME… hoping the real thing will be in the final and they just placed this to fill the space…
As for the installer… RC1 was looking very nice here? It’s the basic openSUSE 11.0 installer, found it richer and more polished. Could be the installer was not set to the correct resolution with your setup?
I meant ugly background images…

As you see they are much worst graphics I’ve ever seen in openSUSE :\ Is there a way to influence to Novell graphics to replace them with old one?
This is VERY subjective.
I’m not a Gnome fan, and I DO like the KDE backgrounds. But I know of others who strongly disagree with me. We ended up agreeing to disagree is I definitely do not like the things they think look good.
The beauty about Linux is one has the choice. So take advantage of that and tune your 11.1 to look the way you like. I like it “as is”.
I agree old 11.0 graphics seem to be smoother…
In fact, this default green 11.0 desktop
wallpaper is now on one of my desktops.
And I use KDE.
But we are talking about wallpapers and backgrounds, not about DEs, aren’t we?
Hmm, maybe, it is.
In fact one would not even notice, that the default wallpaper has changed,
if he has mounted /home partition with his old user-files in it during the installation.
shheesh sister is that all you have to complain about. This belongs in chit chat or soapbox
BTW. is there only one graphic designer that creates openSUSE?
If so, whats his name?
His name is Jakub Steiner, also know as “jimmac”.
You can access his website/blog here : jimmac.musichall.cz
I used 11.0 to switch pretty much completely to KDE 4.1 (I had been using mostly KDE apps, even when GNOME was my default desktop, so the desktop was the only real change). I can still install (and use) whatever applets from GNOME suit my fancy (and some still do), even though KDE is my desktop of choice. That is even more true with 11.1RC1.
