UEFI Installation - What medium ? What UEFI configuration?

I am planning to install Leap 42.1 on a laptop with UEFI. I read the documentation about UEFI in the wiki but I couldn’t find a clear enough answer to the following questions:

  1. Can the Leap version of openSUSE be used with secure boot turned on ?
  2. Should UEFI secure boot be absolutely turned off prior to the booting on the installation medium (DVD ou USB stick) even when one aims at using openSUSE with secure boot turned on ?
  3. If answer to question 1 is yes, is the installation medium usable for doing a “secure boot installation” the same as the installation medium for a “non secure boot installation” ?

I tried to install openSUSE with the secure boot turned off but the install didn’t get to an end — sudden reboot on the installation medium just before the installation of grub. Then I turned the secure boot on. After that the medium became impossible to boot. Thus I tried to get back to "“secure boot off” but I found it difficult to turn the secure boot back off (entry for secure boot in the firmware had become unreachable – greyed). I thought that playing with the password was a good idea in order to access the “secure boot” switch and I ended with a completely locked PC. I have to get in touch with my vendor now. But, of course, I am still interested by the answers to the previous questions.

Yes, but there had been bugs that were fixed later, so it is better to install with secure boot disabled, update and re-enable it later.

Normally no, but see above.

Same answer - normally yes, but there were known issues.

Sudden reboot is almost always kernel issue which is unlikely to be fixed by playing with secure boot.
