udev fails to start during boot: ASUS A320I-K

Hi folks,

i’v upgaded a bunch of machines running Leap 15.2 for long time very stable. I changed the repo definition to reflect ${releasever} and did an distribution upgrade. Everything went well for many different systems (i.e. HP DL380 gen5, ZOTAC ID18E, ASUS-X570, ThinkPad Yoga L390, and many more). The latest upgrade of a system with an ASUS A320I-K, Ryzen 3000 2200G, fails to start. systemd-udev hangs for ever, no network, only boot drives.

The system has additional filesystems on hard disk on a marvell sata controller that are not available due to udev failure and thus the boot process drops to emergency mode. Nevertheless, it is not possible to leave the emergency shell and have the system to come up in multiuser mode.

I very much would appreciate hints where to look for the failure and what to do to make the system run smoothly.

TIA

What exactly does this mean? Are the mounts off the Marvell required to boot? If not, boot rescue media, mount the / filesystem, and add the option nofail to their fstab entries. That seems should enable a basic boot to facilitate additional troubleshooting.

Does the same failure result trying to boot the previous kernel?
