Two serious problems on 12.1

Hi… I installed 12.1 and I have two serious problem. Firstly when I try to update my software via yast or apper I get different files for update(for example 4 files on yast and 3 files on apper) and when I type zypper dup on konsole I get 100+ files to update… Also my boot time(until the pc is ready to work) is 1 min and 15 secs. My laptop has a i3 processor and 4gb ddr3 ram so why it’s so slow?

please post only ONE problem in each thread…and put something about
the specific problem in the subject line…that way if you have a
problem with apper and put that in the subject, those folks knowing
something about apper might look in…lots of helpers here will never
look in on “Two serious problems…”

ok, so

FIRST: apper is broken! do not use it, do not look at it…always use
YaST Online Update or YaST Software management instead…[read more:

SECOND: why are you typing “zypper dup”?? that is the way to do a
“distribution upgrade” like when moving from 11.2 to 11.3, or 12.1 to 12.2

suggest you do some reading about zypper…

and, i guess maybe you have some factory repos enabled which is a BIG
mistake since Factory now contains UNTESTED SOFTWARE which may or may
not end up in openSUSE 12.2

if you have not yet you need to pay attention to the paragraph beginning
with “IMPORTANT!” here http://tinyurl.com/33qc9vu

and just a hint: unless you are wanting problems, or intend to be out on
the edge do not enable a repo with any of these in its name: factory,
playground, or unstable

who know why it is slow…depends a lot on how you have set up your
system, what software you have installed, where it came from, what
services you have running, etc etc etc etc etc…
