KDE desktop, Nvidia 980 card, both monitors are 1920 x 1080. I added a second monitor, used Configure Desktop to get everything working. I’m happy with it except for the wallpaper. The X-Server Information section of KInfocenter says I have only Screen 0 which is 3840 x 1080 pixels. That seems right to me as windows are the expected size and I can slide them from one monitor to the other. I created a .png file of 3840 x 1080 pixels, placed it in ~/.local/share/wallpapers and selected it as my desktop wallpaper in the primary monitor, using a right click on the desktop. It showed the right side of the picture as it should with positioning set to scaled. I then repeated the procedure on the left monitor expecting to see the right side of the picture. In fact, I see the left side of the picture, the same as on the primary monitor.
Is there a way to have the left monitor show the left side of the wallpaper image, and the right monitor show the right side of the same picture? I know I could split the image, but is that the only way?
