Twitter media does not play in Firefox

opensuse 42.2
linux 4.4.36-8-default x86_64
firefox 51.0.1

This media URL <https://twitter.com/VictoryInLove/status/827381028394131456> displays the most unhelpful message “The media could not be played.” I nearly as I can tell, the media format is MP4 which should not be a problem, but is.

Can anyone suggest what piece is missing?

Did you do a vendor change to packman to pickup the proprietary codecs??

I remember having done that in the past. But I ended up doing a fresh install of 42.2 (don’t ask); I suppose the change to packman was reset with the new install.

Do you have a handy link to instructions for the vendor change?

Way I do it is in YaST/Software Management though most experts here
would use zypper - but I’m just a simple user who prefers GUIs.

In ‘software management’, if you haven’t done so already, select ‘view’
and then ‘repositories’. Then select the ‘repositories’ tab, click on
‘packman repository’ in the list of repos. At the top of the displayed
list of applications will be the link ‘switch system packages’; click
that and then ‘accept’ the changes.

That has worked for me with Firefox and Chromium but Opera remains
obstinately defiant in its refusal to play Twitter media. *

Thank you. That worked nicely. And I can view more videos!
