TW - VMWare Workstation VM - TPM2 auto unlock fails

I’ve set up a VM on VMWare Workstation Pro 26H1 with a TPM2 module present.

I tried to install OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with TPM auto unlock enabled (option selected in the installer).

I used the openSUSE-Tumbleweed-DVD-x86_64-Snapshot20260520-Media.iso installer image.

During installation, the installer threw the following error (screenshot):

I would appreciate help with this.

I tried om my up-to-date Tumbleweed system:

> ls /var/lib/pcrlock.d
ls: cannot access '/var/lib/pcrlock.d': No such file or directory

Reading VMware documentation I read openSUSE Leap 16.0 supported so I would try that instead.

I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but I want to get this working rather than switch distributions.

I tried to install without TPM unlock and provision the TPM for auto unlocking (without a PIN) once installed. However, I’ve run into issues with that as well. After some wrangling, I rendered the (test) system unbootable:

(following the instructions adding measure-pcr-validator.ignore=yes to cmdline allows the system to boot again)
