TW - VirtualBox VM - TPM+PIN unlock - Issues provisioning

I’ve created a VM for OpenSUSE Tumbleweed on VirtualBox. I enabled TPM2.

I installed TW using the openSUSE-Tumbleweed-DVD-x86_64-Snapshot20260521-Media.isoinstaller.

Installation was stuck on 90% for a seemingly long time. I was AFK so I’m not sure what happened, but when I got back I was greeted with a lock screen. I hit ESC to get more details. I was prompted for a TPM PIN.

After entering a PIN, I was prompted for a PIN a couple more times. Then an error message showed up.

Please see screenshot below:

I would appreciate help with this.

OK, so it looks like it was actually asking me for a pre-defined PIN to unlock the system, rather than asking me to set a PIN. I was expecting to be prompted to set a PIN in the installer (which I wasn’t) or on first boot.

This behaviour is really surprising. It looks like the installer has set the password I gave it for LUKS as the PIN for the TPM.

I’m coming over from the Windows world and there, the usual workflow is to set a separate TPM unlock PIN. This is what I was hoping to replicate here.
