Hello, has anyone tried installing with Snapshot20231107? I am getting shim error.
I’ve been getting shim errors for the last 8 months. Hopefully this will get addressed before too long. I’ve read a wide variety of suggestions and none have worked. I wish I had a solution to suggest but I don’t.
Funny thing is the build just before, Snapshot20231106 worked fine for me.
As far as I can tell, there have not been any recent changes to “shim” in Tumbleweed. But perhaps you experimented with Leap on that computer and introduced an incompatibility.
Actually yes, you may be onto something here. There is a LEAP 15.5 and Ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS living on this computer. What I am confused by is that I can’t even boot from the TW flash drive.
Check Bug 1209985. It explains the situation. Toward the end, there’s a suggestion for how to get everything working again. Or just leave secure-boot disabled until Tumbleweed gets an updated shim.
How about dupping to tw repo from leap 15.5? would that introduce potentially unable to boot system?
Unfortunately, yes it would.
Leap 15.5 gave you a higher SBAT level that is not currently supported by Tumbleweed. The SBAT level is in NVRAM, so switching to Tumbleweed won’t lower that level.
You need to either go with secure-boot disabled, or you need to lower the SBAT level before you can use Tumbleweed.
Darn… I will just wait until the TW gets higher SBAT level… hopefully soon because right now it’s booted Ubuntu and will stay that way for another month or so.
