TW latest kernel 6.03 NVIDIA blank screen

I updated TW to the latest with kernel 6.03 but NVIDIA X goes to a blank screen, switching back to previous kernel 5.19x works fine. Any ideas?

Hm, your kernel is not the “latest”. Does it work with kernel-default-6.0.5-1.1.?

Hi
Do you have nvidia-drm.modeset=1 in your kernel boot options?

No, I don’t but even with it the same problem. The problem just started after the upgrade

Hi
I would suspect the driver didn’t rebuild for the kernel, can you check;

/sbin/modinfo nvidia | grep filename:

Also kernel is 6.0.5 and snapshot 20221031.

filename: /lib/modules/5.19.8-1-default/updates/nvidia.ko

-rw-r–r-- 1 root root 58272432 Sep 20 14:08 /lib/modules/5.19.8-1-de
fault/updates/nvidia.ko

I refreshed TW on Fri/Sat.

Is there a way to rebuild ?

Hi
So did you lock the 5.19.8 kernel and are booting from that? Check at boot from grub in the ‘Advanced’ menu and boot from the 6.n.n kernel installed, and zypper dup again…

Good point, this is the result from when I am booting the 5.19.8 kernel. If I boot in 6.03 kernel (command mode - if I am in graphical mode then it just hang forever). Then I got

/lib/modules/6.0.3-1-default/uppdates/nvidia.ko

and the date is on Oct 28.

Let me boot from 6.03 kernel and zypper dup again.

Hi
You need to force the re-install of all the nvidia rpms once in 6.0.3.
