TV card AverTV digi Volar Ex

Hallo:

I’ve a new HDTV card: Avermedia AverTv Digi Volar Ex( DBT-T, USB 2.0).

Has any been able to use it with OpenSuse 11.2?

Is there an easy way to configure it? I’ve tried with yast, but nothing.

Thanks

Hi
Can you check the output from dmesg just after you plug the device in
and post the relevant part here around ‘code’ tags :slight_smile: It may be missing
firmware.

Now. What’s the next step?

I run Me TV and say I’ve to install dvd-apps package. But I can’t find it in the repository.

Hi
You need to install dvb you can do this via YaST -> Software ->
Software Management, or via the CLI via;

sudo zypper in dvb

You can find further information in
/usr/share/doc/packages/dvb/README.SuSE.

You could then run a manual scan with;

scan /usr/share/dvb/atsc/us-NTSC-center-frequencies-8VSB

If you install an application like smplayer from packman, you could
create a channels.conf file by adding the following to the end of the
above command and copy to the ~/.mplayer directory

-o zap | tee ~/channels.conf

Any other suggestion?

Hi
Well that indicates it’s working, you just need to find the correct
file too scan with or try with YaST again…

Yes it works fine.

Thanks
