Tutorial on migration from Win2k3 to openSUSE?

Ist it just me or there just isn’t any tutorial or series of tutorials/articles on how to migrate from windows server 2003 to openSUSE? Search engines keep returning unrelated links to articles about migration from win serv 2k3 to 2k8, or Unix to Linux, or other Microsoft server products.
I am generally looking for an explanation/walkthrough/tutorial/checklist on migration from Windows Server 2003 to any Linux distribution if openSUSE is for some reason unsuitable for that role.

So when you say you want to Migrate from Windows Server 2003 to openSUSE, what does that mean you are trying to migrate? Was this server a Domain controller with a user database? If so, you need to look at how Samba works for such a function. If you just want to share files and folders, again Samba can do that and it is a lot less trouble to setup. If you are talking about Windows 2003 applications, then you are most likely wanting to use some sort of Vitalization, running Windows applications in a Virtual session hosted by a Linux machine.

The things that might need to be done are not very easy for anyone to answer. There is no migrate button to push. If this was for a money making business, I would seek professional networking and setup help from Linux professionals. If this is something you are doing at home, I suggest a dual boot setup. Buy some extra disk space, load openSUSE and give it a try. Or, you can look at some Novell Linux business products, which are not free, but which may not break the bank when compared to buying Microsoft Server products and you get some free support as well.

Good luck in finding what you seek.

Thank You,
