so is there a " Good " tutorial around , ideally using Yast for Samba and or NFS

There are many to choose from. Starting with samba:

That should be integrated into Yast !!! … it would prevent a lot of grieve.
I am using Suse since the early 2000s. There are hardly any improvements in Yast as to help / setting up services like samba . … which is disappointing. Usually I get by with second guessing.
I got smb somewhat going . Had to reload the config file etc.
It appears to be one need to reboot after changes have been made …yes , I did restart samba in the Konsole !
Anyway let me go through the documentation provided.

If changes are made to smb.conf, restarting samba should be all that is required.
