I recently went from leap to tumbleweed. Everything works much better, including not getting video glitches (Kate) I was getting in leap. Still using x11, the performance is smooth thus far.
Iām sure an Admin will be along to move this to āOpen Chatā (opinion post).
We went the other way, many many months ago.
TW required(s) too much attention. After the move to Leap, no issues.
Iām confused about the āvideo glitchesā and reference to āKateā. Maybe I missed something. I use Kate daily ⦠the Kate I use is a well known, advanced text editor. I guess thereās a video player by the same name (-shrugs shoulders-)
Good luck!
Tumbleweed is great but it does get a lot of updates and things do break. But itās usually not too long before a fix is released.
You may want to check out Slowroll.
openSUSE Slowroll uses a modified version of openSUSE Tumbleweed to give a little more stability to users who donāt want the bleeding edge but also donāt want to wait 12 months for a minor release or 3 to 4 years for a major release like openSUSE Leap. With big updates once per month, and continuous bug fixes and security fixes as they come in, Slowroll finds a perfect balance for those who simply donāt want to be forced to choose!
