Tumbleweed Stable

I recently went from leap to tumbleweed. Everything works much better, including not getting video glitches (Kate) I was getting in leap. Still using x11, the performance is smooth thus far.

I’m sure an Admin will be along to move this to ā€œOpen Chatā€ (opinion post).

We went the other way, many many months ago.
TW required(s) too much attention. After the move to Leap, no issues.

I’m confused about the ā€œvideo glitchesā€ and reference to ā€œKateā€. Maybe I missed something. I use Kate daily … the Kate I use is a well known, advanced text editor. I guess there’s a video player by the same name (-shrugs shoulders-)

Good luck!

Tumbleweed is great but it does get a lot of updates and things do break. But it’s usually not too long before a fix is released.

You may want to check out Slowroll.

openSUSE Slowroll uses a modified version of openSUSE Tumbleweed to give a little more stability to users who donā€˜t want the bleeding edge but also don’t want to wait 12 months for a minor release or 3 to 4 years for a major release like openSUSE Leap. With big updates once per month, and continuous bug fixes and security fixes as they come in, Slowroll finds a perfect balance for those who simply don’t want to be forced to choose!
