Tumbleweed Kernel 2.6.39 bluetooth problem

Hi!

I’ve been using OpenSuSE and Tumbleweed (with Gnome) since march, and everything was working perfectly until recently.

After upgrade to 2.6.39 kernel bluetooth icon from gnome panel disappeared. Also system memory usage jumped down about ~30MB, so something obviously failed to load (bluetooth applet and obexd is loaded and running, though).
On 2.6.38 bluetooth is working fine, but this kernel is no longer available in tumbleweed repo and after rollback i could not upgrade my system any longer.

I’ve manually upgraded libbluetooth3 and bluez to 4.91 from factory repo but unfortunately it didn’t help.

But few last releases of 2.6.38 were also buggy, the gnome system monitor (process list tab) stopped working on both my very different machines (Q8200 with x64 desktop kernel and C3 Nehemiah with i586 default kernel).
At least this has been fixed with 2.6.39 release.

Bluetooth was also broken in 2.6.39 rc factory releases, but i was hoping it will be fixed before entering Tumbleweed. Maybe Tumbleweed repo is becoming too unstable and bleeding edge?

I have this bug open for the same issue - please add your hardware id to
the bug

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=691088

Something is wrong with my internet connection or bugzilla today - i can’t login there
hwinfo gives me following result:

Of course even though bluetooth driver seems to be loaded, gnome tells me that no bluetooth devices are found.
This is an old generic bluetooth USB dongle (bought in 2006).

I’ve checked latest kernel update and still bluetooth isnt working

I’ve tried 3.0RC2 kernel from HEAD repository - still to bluetooth (but AMD Catalyst worked without reinstalling :P).

Strange, this bug seems to be well known. It’s not just opensuse problem.
for example:
Bug#630566: linux-source-2.6.39: 2.6.39-2 : bluetooth broken - Linux Archive
Re: Linux 2.6.39 – Linux Bluetooth

and still no fix :(. Maybe 2.6.38 is the last linux kernel with bluetooth support :shame: rotfl!.

I’ve bought another BT dongle, on CSR chipset, and it works flawlessly.
