Tumbleweed installer fails on HP Pavilion 590-p0633ng Desktop PC

Hi,

The Tumbleweed installer fails at about 80% on installation of drivers when trying to install from DVD. Installs have been tried from Snapshots of Dec-2018 and Dec-2019.

The PC details are,
HP 5CV59EA#ABD Pavilion 590 p0633ng Desktop PC, AMD A-Series Ryzen 3 2200U, 128 GB SSD, 1000GB Hard Drive, 8GB RAM, AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics Card

Not problems have been encountered when running Tumbleweed from a USB-HDD, with latest updates

Another anomaly is that the YasT partitioner does not recognise the SSD card, details are,
NVMe 128GB WDC CP SN520

Any hints on how to proceed would be appreciated

Cheers

A hail mary,
Try “Enable online repositories” during your install setup, it might give your installer access to a larger number of possible packages and might alter your install slightly.

AMD Ryzen systems have had a large number of problems with Linux systems in general, you might skim through the various Forum threads describing problems and their solutions.

hi,

thanks for the tip, but the install never got that far.

the problem has been circumvented by swapping the internal HDD with the one that was booting ok via a usb port.

still need a solution on how to access the SSD card.

cmd ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid identifies it but YasT does not.

thanks again

hi

the nvme M,2 memory card is recognized when kernal 5.0 is installed, yast, df, lsblk, etc. see it.

the latest iso’s only see the sata drives

when is the likelihood of this kernal making its way into the iso’s?

thanks for any info
