I installed tumbleweed with the net install cd (I think x64 from 01-17-2016 or close to that date). It used my wifi when doing the net install, but when I boot up tumblweed, I can’t get my wifi running. It sees my adaptor, but any attempt to configure it makes it ask for “iw”, which it then attempts to download, which of course, fails. I think it is looking for the cd, is that file on the cd? I downloaded it from here (https://software.opensuse.org/download.html?project=hardware&package=iw), but I don’t know where to put the file where it will find it.
Why the heck would the net install allow installation to complete without installing iw, especially when its required to use wireless networks?
There are too many "it"s here. What exactly are you using to configure wireless? Usually when wireless is detected installation defaults to using NetworkManager, and NM does not need iw as far as I know. I am not sure about wicked, whether it is using it - I would expect not.
iw is of course in TW, but I’m not sure whether it needs additional dependencies. Just put file on your system and try to install using “rpm -ivh iw-4.3-1.2.x86_64.rpm”.
Thanks, I’ll give it a shot. I was using one of the tools on the settings menu. Can’t recall exactly. I’ll have to look when I get home. I’m pretty sure it was network manager.
