Tumbleweed - DVD install still downloading from internet

I am using DVD “openSUSE-Tumbleweed-DVD-x86_64-Snapshot20210210-Media.iso” to install.

I installed on one machine a few days ago in which it installed from the DVD.

Now today I am installing on another machine and its fetching all packages from the internet which is taking forever.

Why is it not installing from the DVD or how to force it to install from DVD?

Thanks

When asked whether to use the online repos, I always say no. That way, it gets all packages from the DVD.

Why is it not installing from the DVD or how to force it to install from DVD?

There was a major update today (to 20200212). It looks as if almost every package was rebuilt. So almost everything on the DVD is already out of date.

That doesn’t usually happen. I guess your timing was unfortunate.

Do not enable the network.

That will install from DVD.

Hi and welcome!

Not sure about Tumbleweed. In Leap (and ever before) the installer asks whether you want to activate the repositories after establishing the internet connection. It can then download updated versions - which may feel like forever especially if you have a lot of stuff to install like LibreOffice etc. Not activating them will prevent that download. I’m pretty sure it may be similar with Tumbleweed if it comes from DVD.

Edit: Oops, too late.:shame:

thanks guys…

After downloading the new ISO it installs from DVD as expected.

I will say no to online repositories next time if its only a short period.
