Hello fam! I can´t open a topic, i don´t know why… that´s sad, super sad…
Well, after an update in my TW KDE my dns got destroyed. resolv.conf was perfect, i could ping, dig, plex working, transmission working, samba… ssh… everything perfect except dns, wich means, no repos (that´s bad), no teamviewer or remote access, no browser…
I had to rollback after 4 days fighting to fix it. I am new in opensuse but i have some knowledge about networks and other distros so… i believe that we had something near a bug there.
The stuff is that if it wasn´t because of the broken dns, this one was the best update ever. My system was working like a charm (well, except my postgresql that got broken too), but i could even watch some videos in my server for first time (until now it was always laggy, no mather wich codecs i use).
That sayd, an OS that can´t be updated is useless so, at some point i will have to update but i am scared.
I will not lie, i keep fighting with TW because i can´t start from scratch in Debian or Fedora (would be a lot of months lost)… but this thing concerns me a lot. I am about to check everything twice, crate a snapshot and update again to see if i reproduce the problem but, for that i would need help from people that knows this OS because, trust me… it was a bug and it was serious.
I’ve moved this to a new topic. Not sure what prevents you from doing that.
Thanks a lot, it was a real mess. As i said above, i have rolled back. What a wonderful feature hehe… Reduced the repos to a minimum (that means packman and a few codecs + the 3 opensuse), readed a bit zypper man and used the option ‘–best-effort’, so far so good!
That means that this update got like 200 packages less and that i have a bunch of repos to review until i find out where is the problem. But, there is a problem, sure. I spent like 3 hours with chatGPT looking around, it was useless of course. cool thing is, you get all recorded.
Firewall was properly set, even if i turned it off. I´ve re-installed the resorlver and configured it, flushed the cache, checked nsswitch.conf, checked /etc/sysconfig/network/config, /etc/resolv.conf… So many things!
I guess that if i force i could reproduce the issue but, i am scared. I´ll review the info that i have and post the relevant part back here, it can be a mistake using repos that i shouldn´t . Let´s see
Until now there is no relevant information provided where others could step in and try to provide help. As you mentioned that you maybe have unsuitable repos activated, why not starting with your repos:
zypper lr -d
