Tumbleweed: Desktop Background Failure: After routine update to kernel 4.6.2-1-default.

Hi All,
I am running gnome Tumbleweed on my Dell laptop. I just installed routinely offered update and kernel 4.6.2-1-default was installed. However, after rebooting, when I loged-in, first my usual desktop background appeared. But after few seconds, when the Desktop was loaded, the screen got covered with a white sheet and my background picture was gone. Although the Desktop contents appeared correctly but the background set by me was gone. Thereafter, all attempts to reset the background by right-clicking the desktop and going to Gnome Setting and re-setting ‘background’ and rebooting etc all failed.

It is very annoying to keep staring at a white sheet instead of the pleasant background of one’s choice.

I have observed that after every offered update some new functional problem is created which, then, wastes time to overcome. This “Evergreen” thing does not seem to be a very good solution for a user like me who wishes to get ahead with the work in hand.
Could someone, more knowledgeable, put me wise regarding which openSUSE version would work better?

Would appreciate help in this very odd problem.

Regards,

RSP2

This is the rolling release of openSUSE and Leap 42.1 or openSUSE 13.2
are the stable releases.

To be expected on a rolling release.

TW is NOT Evergreen by far.

Leap 42.1 Gnome or openSUSE 13.2 Kde/Gnome is recommended.

Install the stable option of your choice or continue sorting out TW
issues as they arise.

Hi,

Since I did not find any solution to Tumbleweed problem, I have installed Leap 42.1. Thanks for you guidance.

Hi,

Thanks. But a shade too late! I have already gone to more stable Leap-42.1.
