Tumbleweed boot problem after upgrade to kernel 4.5.0-1.1

Hi all,

The update of 18/03/2016 to Tumbleweed installed kernel 4.5.0-1.1. I am now unable to boot into a graphical screen (xfce); the system boots as far as the “Login” line, then stops. I can enter my username and password OK, but don’t know how to start xfce from there.

I can still login correctly via the advanced grub options, using the earlier kernel 4.4.2-1.1. How can I reset this as the default kernel, and prevent any subsequent change back to 4.5.0-1.1?

Thanks for your advice

In grub, press E to edit the boot, and on the linux line, add “iomem=relaxed” … apparently this will be “fixed” by an update to the next vbox.
