Tumbleweeb install media repositories point to FACTORY ones.

Hi there guys first time using this forums, please help me out with this…

I got a tumbleweed kde live media from https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Tumbleweed_installation on 12/19/2014, which i currently have install on my PC. Just today after updating the system and trying to add packman repos i noticed the repositories it came with point to FACTORY repositories instead of tumbleweed.

Its this OK?

Either way, are there any consequences if i change the repos to point to tumbleweed as pointed in the installation guide?

I may need to install AMD proprietary video drivers for my card and FACTORY does not have a package for fglrx as far as i know.

I believe that is is all factory now. Don’t tumble myself

You have to install Video drivers the hard way there are no prebuilt ones for Tumbleweed

Here:
https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:AMD_fglrx

There is a package for Tumbleweed but no for Factory.

At the moment, Tumbleweed and Factory is the same, at least repo-wise.

In other words, it doesn’t matter whether your repos have /factory or /tumbleweed in the URL, both contain the same packages.

The installation media still adds /factory as repos, but that is being worked on.

But /factory will disappear altogether in a few months, you should change them to /tumbleweed manually before that.

Regarding fglrx, use the Tumbleweed repo and packages.
You are in fact using Tumbleweed even if your repos say “factory”.

OK thanks guys.

The only consequence of changing that now, is that you won’t have to change it later.
