Trying to run Virtual Box after fresh install.

openSUSE 12.3.
KDE 4.10.5

A fresh install of 12.3 and Virtual box from Yast. New HDD.

When I click on the icon, it spins around a bit then stops.
Running from the command line gives me this,

hexdump@Corky-PC:~> vboxgtk
ERROR:root:Could not find any typelib for Gtk

Wassup ?

  1. If this was me I would remove VirtualBox, if installed by YaST.

  2. Then install VB per this article: http://forums.opensuse.org/content/59-how-install-virtualbox-opensuse-11-4-12-1-tumbleweed.html

  3. Links to the latest VirtualBox version are here: http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/virtualization/491521-oracle-releases-virtualbox-version-4-3-a.html#post2597397

  4. You must consider who can use VBOX on your PC and where you will place your large Hard Disk files.

Thank You,

Remove vboxgtk, it doesn’t work!
See here: Access Denied

Install virtualbox-qt instead, that’s the official GUI. You should find it in YaST->Software Management.

Everything seems to be working ok, since I paid attention to the suggestions, and followed orders.
It’s amazing how much that can help.
lol!

That is very good to hear.

Thank You,
