I have been trying to install Wordpress to run locally so I can play with a website I am about to create. So far I am failing.
MariaDB is set up and running.
PHP7 is set up and phpinfo runs. Also mPhpAdmin runs.
I have downloaded WordPress-6.0.2 from Wordpress, com and unzipped it.
When I try to run the wordpress/wp-admin/install.php script inside Chromium, a window pops up showing the text. When I try to run the script with Firefox, I get a dialog box axking what I want to do with the PHP file and “run
PHP” is not an option. Obiviously, both browsers know how to run PHP scripts but something is wrong with the file associations or the files themselves.
I have no idea how to proceed and Google is unhelpful. Can you advise me?
Thank you.
This seems to be more about installing and running WP than something about openSUSE. Besides thinking on what user malcolmlewis asks, may be you get higher chances of getting help by reading and asking about this on the WP forums: Installing WordPress | WordPress.org
BTW I am no expert, but a couple of years ago I also played with a test site and managed to install WP and everything relatively hassle-free.
