Trying to edit Postgresql file

Warning: 24+ Hour Linux Noob:

I have installed postgres and I am able to start & stop service. I need to edit the pg_hba.conf f1le but when I enter

kdesu kwrite /var/lib/pgsql/data/pg_hba.conf

i get “cannot connect to X server” error.

I have tried others editors but nothing is working. What am “I” doing wrong.

I was able to edit the file with alt+f2. I was doing it in the terminal window…I am not lear why it didn’t work though.
