Trying to Connect to Ubuntu 11.10 PC on LAN

Hello,

Many apologies if this issue has already been tackled ad nausuem, but I seem to be having a spectacular amount of trouble accessing a shared folder on my laptop running ubuntu 11.10. I have samba installed. Oh, and I am using opensuse 11.4, well trying to use it anyway

There is a known issue with nmb and openSUSE 11.4. Here is one such solution.

Hello,

have same problem, i discover it is AppArmor prevent samba to create and management files in “/var/lib/samba” folder.

11.4 samba won’t run - SOLUTION, go to Yast -> Novell AppArmor -> Edit Profile and update or delete AppArmor profile for Samba.

Then use as “root” "rcsmb restart " and check did samba run “rcsmb status”

Its works for me

Further, there is a great resource on setting up Samba here by one of our users…
