Hello to all. I use OpenSUSE 11.1, KDE 3.5 with all last updates via community repositories.
But I have problem when I try to save or open files via Opera. When I click save button and “Save file dialog” should be shown but Opera has frozen and I should kill opera’s process.
May be anyone know what I do wrong. May be I should install an additional package or something else.
Thanks for your replies.
Open terminal, be a superuser and type opera, check the details.
Below you can see output.
But I can’t understand where is problem.
kde4 packages have installed on my PC.

And why does one need to be root to get console output??

Is this problem new with 10.60?
try this: open Opera’s configuration by typing “opera:config” in Opera’s address bar
search for “dialog toolkit” in quick find
if “File dialog toolkit” is not 3, change to 3
save it and restart Opera
explaination Opera’s Settings File Explained
I try to change value to 1 and to 3 and nothing happens. Every time when I try to open or save file - opera is going down. I think what I should go to 11.3 and kde4. May be Opera 10.60 doesn’t work with qt3 anymore.
Probably time to upgrade but Opera should work with qt3 (it no longer uses the qt toolkit, it uses it’s own). One other thing to try is to close Opera and rename ~/.opera to ~/opera-old then restart Opera to determine if the problem might be in a config/setting file (you could also do this by creating and then logging in as a different user - might be safer). You could also dl and reinstall Opera
I’m having th exact same problem. Opera 10.60 freezes when trying to save/open a file. I’m running OpenSuse 11.1 with KDE 3.5
Opera 10.10 and lower works fine. I’ve tried re-installing and deleting /.opera, but nothing works. Any additional suggestions would be appreciated
try posting on Opera Linux forum Opera for UNIX - Linux, Solaris, FreeBSD
there an exiting similar post opensuse 11.1 and version 10.60 locaks up on any file dialog box - Opera browser - Opera Community
from Opera Linux forum and I quote:
"This is a known problem that happens when running on KDE 3, but on a system that also has the KDE 4 libraries installed. Opera will try to start its KDE 4 file chooser, but it will fail.
To fix this, change opera:config#FileSelector|DialogToolkit to either 2 (GTK, requires GTK libraries installed) or 4 (pure X11, fallback for machines without any UI toolkits).
The next version of Opera will fix this by automatically choosing GTK and falling back to X11 when using KDE 3."
That fix worked for me. Thank you and the opera forum for the help. Its greatly appreciate.
