Hei!
Unable to resolve dependencies issues in yast when I recently tried to upgrade various programmes: ffmpeg, a52, xvid etc. All of them are from the Packman repo as are the upgrades.
Anyone else having similar experience?
Cheers

I do have the similar problem but my problem relate to libxine yast just cant resolve the dependency… So i stopped using xine based application… Now using mplayer based one… I must say i am pretty much impressed with it
I updated with no problems. What repositories do you have? What is the output of: zypper lr
I recommend you limit your repos to only OSS, Non-OSS, Update and Packman.
Sometimes new users encounter a situation where to install the Packman libxine1, they need to first remove the Novell/SuSE-GmbH xine-lib. Did you try that?
I agree with the assessment that the smplayer/MPlayer combination is very good.
Thanks for the replies!
I have frequently updated since the installation and have not mixed the packaman and vlc repoes. And, I use the same repoes as oldcpu recommended. Actually, I find Kaffeine/xine preferable to SMplayer, I seem always to end up in some Mplayer issues. However, I have no problems, yet, with xine upgrades, and all audio/video is working fine for me, so that is not any problem.
I just want to be updated:)
I might add that after puzzling a bit around, I became aware of that with some packages there is an option between i586 and i686. I have never consciously selected either or between these packages.
No.
What “LC_ALL=C zypper -v up -t package” (the only sane way to update given Re: [softwaremgmt] What is wrong with softwaremgmt in 11.0. ¿SVN status?) outputs?
I managed to upgrade, I just had to take it one package at the time. I usually update by repoes: ‘update if newer version is available’ and tick off, in the dependencies warning message box, the option ‘replace something with something new’ if such a message appears. In this case liba52xx with liba52xx’ and libxvid + devel with libxvidcore + devel, as well as some other similar ones. But it was those two which I didn’t succeeded to resolve until I took them one by one. And actually it seemed a bit casual as well, I clicked on the upgrade xvid and automatically some other xvid related packages was set to upgrade as well (as they should of course). Then the warning message appears with ‘replace libxvid and libxvid devel with libxvidcore and libxvidcore devel’, I tick of the option to replace the packages but nothing happens, it just resets itself when I click OK. I then searched for xvid set the libxvid packages to uninstall and then tick off to install the libxvidcore + devel packages. And then there was no dependencies problems anymore.
A bit confusing and it leaves me a bit uncertain, but hopefully everything is in order.
