Trouble with Google Earth install

Okay I have beating myself up trying to install Google Earth. I have read a few of the forums and made some progress but here are my issues.
I tried to install by going into terminal using the instructions from the Google site Launching Google Earth : Installing Google Earth for Linux - Google Earth Help Center that every time I tried to “Enter the following command in the directory: > sh GoogleEarthLinux.bin” as user it would tell me I did not have permission, so I tried it in Root with no luck.
I read another post telling me to install Google Earth 4.2 by making the .bin file executable but and every time I start the program it starts to initialize it quits on me and I get some sort of bug alert. So I dumped it and tried Google Earth 4.3 (beta) and it installed but it runs so slow it is almost not worth using. I was not really thrilled about using the beta version since I had used the 4.2 version before without trouble.
I have also just run my SUSE updates and I double checked my Internet connection and it running just fine
Any ideas on how to get Google Earth up and running?

Maybe the graphics acceleration is not working?
Assuming that you have a nvidia or ati graphics card, did add the corresponding repositories and installed the drivers?
