Trouble mounting Nikon coolpix s3400

I have been using Opensuse 13.1 with LXDE for the last 2 weeks, I have just noticed that I can’t mount my camera Nikon coolpix s3400. The annoying thing for me is that when I was using Debain 7.5 the camera would mount automatically.

Ouput from dmesg:

PLEASE HELP

Cameras are often using the PTP protocol for picture transfer now, so usually recognised as such. With KDE, it is possible to view using Dolphin and ‘camera:/’ KIO, (and the KDE notifier detects the camera anyway), but I’m not sure what features the LXDE file manager ( PCMan?) provides. You might try using the nautilus file manager instead.

For CLI access, you can use gphotow to access and manage your camera:

http://www.gphoto.org/doc/manual/using-gphoto2.html

I have installed gphoto, gphotofs, libgphoto2-6, and shotwell however I haven’t had any success.

Do I need to configure gphoto to work?

Thanks for the info Deano, the link had the two commands I was looking for.

**gphoto2 *–list-files

**gphoto2 *–get-all-files
********************************BTW - I checked nautilus file manager but I didn’t have success with that.

Thanks again.

My pleasure. FWIW, I found another similar old thread that may be of interest to you

You might also like to consider using a photo manager like Shotwell (which works with gphoto to interface to cameras).
