Trouble launching WoW

I’ll note again as I’ve noted in the couple other threads I’ve started this week: I’m new to Linux. I’m dual-booting with an existing Windows XP x64 installation, and I’ve got Wine installed and able to run some of the other programs from the existing Windows files, but it’s choking on the most important one: World of Warcraft. I had some trouble running it from the terminal due to my Windows folder structure, so I’ve copied it to a simpler spot for testing. I’ve also installed the appropriate Nvidia drivers from the OpenSUSE wiki. When I try to open Wow.exe with Wine in the terminal this is what I’m getting:

Which seems to also relate to my issues getting Alsa to run correctly. When I try to open Launcher.exe, I get:

Are you running the game from ntfs windows partition?
I made a copy of the game folder on FAT32 partition, then I just moved it to /home/user/.wine/drive_c/wow/ and it’s working (wine-snapshot 1.1.3.20080827-1.1 and WoW-2.4.3.8606-enGB-patch.)I’m running it with “wine c:/wow/WoW.exe”
Have you tried to test the sound in winecfg? ALSA works just fine here, with full hardware acceleration. You got sound problem with other programs or is it just wow?
About the “DivxDecoder.dll” error, try to set up /wow/WTF/config.wtf like this:

SET movie "0"
SET expansionMovie "0"
SET gxAPI "OpenGL"

I currently have sound but Alsa doesn’t seem to be running completely properly (which is a subject for a whole 'nother thread). I’ll try tweaking the config file and see if that helps, thanks.

First of all u should copy wow folder to a linux native partition.Before running wow make sure u have first run winecfg.
At wow’s config.wtf file other than the changes that **finders ** suggested do these changes as well

SET Sound_SoundOutputSystem “1”
SET Sound_SoundBufferSize “150”

If u still have problem run winecfg choose wow.exe and at sound tab set it to use
“OSS”, rather than “ALSA”
