I recompiled/ updated a Kernel ( following easy to follow guide How To Compile A Kernel - The SuSE Way | HowtoForge - Linux Howtos and Tutorials)and while I was doing the
rpm -ivh kernel-2.6.26.5Custom-1.x86_64.rpm I got the bug
error: failed to stat /home/Shadowfire/.gvfs: Permission denied
Preparing… ########################################### [100%]
package kernel-2.6.26.5Custom-1 is already installed
I tried a couple of time then thought to myself … oh what the hell and kept on going. after about another 20 or so minutes I installed changed the grub default to my custom kernel 2.6.26.5 and rebooted only to recieve the B( as in Black not the windows Blue)SOD that sucked .I was going to try an experiment if the kernel worked but it didn’t .
I am thinking that it the reason it didn’t work was because of that stupid bug
