I’ve installed openSUSE 11 with no problems. However for the life of me I cannot open a webdav location! I’ve searched the forums here and elsewhere and tried everything but can’t make it work.
I have a webdav share served through Apache 2 (another machine also running on openSUSE 11) that can be accessed from OSX and WXP without any issues.
In my mind, it should be as simple as using Connect To Server , plugging in the info and hitting connect. It shouldnt be more difficult than Winblows XP (which was a pain) - it should be easy just like it is with OSX.
With that said, what is the proper way to connect to a webdav share using openSUSE 11? What packages are required to be installed? What config options need to be set? Where can I look for debug/trace info?
I have in the most simple way. I pointed Konqueror to the URL. I was asked for the uid/password. They are saved in Kdewallet. I know can point to it and it uses Kdewallet. I can move files to and from via Konqui.
But maybe you have a more sophisticated use in mind.
No, not looking for anything extravagant, just basic connectivity so I can browse the files in Nautilus. BTW, I’m using Gnome, neglected to mention that.
From my post you understand that I use KDE and that Konqueror does exactly what you want. You could of course try Konqueror in Gnome, but the storage/automatic retrieval of uid/password in Kwallet won’t work I suppose.
Im not interested in KDE. I need to get this working under Gnome. It seems straightforward enough, it just doesn’t work. So I suspect I’m missing something in the configuration/setup. If anyone can help, I would appreciate it.

You could also go over to sourceforge.net and get davfs2. Then using a
DAV fs is as simple as mounting (as user) in any place you like.
Using different (and incompatible) methods for different filemanagers is
daft. Filesystems must be transparent, no matter how you access them.
