Touch Pad Settings Not being Saved

Need help with a minor niggle. I like to use use a two finger tap to emulate a right mouse click which I set-up in the touch-pad system settings. For some unknown reason this setting isn’t getting saved and needs to set-up each time I use the laptop. This has only happened since installing openSUSE 12.2 Any help appreciated

Acer Aspire5535 openSUSE 12.2 KDE 4.10

If you enter the new settings with synclient, they can be entered as options in
the file /etc/X11/xorg.d.conf/50-synaptics.conf. At least that is where I had to
go to disable the ******* tapping. It goes in the Section “InputClass” with
Identifier “touchpad catchall”.

Cheers lwfinger,

My problem is no more. After changing the value from 2 to 3 in Option “TapButton2” under Section “InputClass” in 50-synaptics.conf my two finger tap for a right mouse click is now permanent again.
Perhaps this was a permissions glitch has using the KDE system settings and the synclient TapButton2=3 command (from konsole) was only effective for the current kde session and were not run as root. When installing new versions of SUSE I always keep my /home folder on a separate partition perhaps this caused the problem, although its always been error free in the past.
Anyhow your help pointed me in the right direction and I’ve learnt a little more under the hood linux stuff. Thanks again mate job well done!!!
