Hi all I own the above mentioned model of laptop and I have the following problem with it. Here is the exact specification for the hardware:
The touch buttons does not work. I am using a 64 bit installation of opensuse 11.1 with KDE 4.1. What I think is that the touch buttons most probably are using the touch pad driver. Not sure though. Could you please tell me what information you will require and will help you advise me.

i have never had a problems with those (i presume you mean the media “quickplay” buttons) using 11.1 2 3 and 4 try configuring them in kde control because you can use them as keyboard buttons
I’m having the same problem with my HP dv9000z (which, I believe, has the same mobo as the dv6500, just a bigger screen),
with an AMD Turion64 CPU and NVIDIA GeForce 6150 graphics. My media quickplay buttons used to work under openSUSE 11.3
and earlier, but I seem to recall I had to install a small RPM from either Packman or some other repository which adjusted
some settings/mappings somewhere. However, all of that was wiped when I had to install 11.4 from scratch after a failed ‘zypper dup’
“upgrade”. I have not been able to find any appropriate settings in the 11.4 KDE control panel(s).
