Totem DVD issues?

I’m having an issue with totem. I’ve never tried to use it until now, and I need to watch a dvd.
After I open the DVD with totem I get this error message:

Could not open location; you might not have permission to open the file.

Anyway, I’m still familiarizing myself with linux and I’m not really sure what the problem is.
Anybody ever had this problem before?
If there’s any info I should include that I didn’t just let me know.
Thanks in advance for anyone’s help

Will, I see that this is your first post here. I do not know just how much you might understand about Linux or openSUSE. As a potential new user of openSUSE, let me point you to the first place you need to look at:

New User How To/FAQ (read only)

Basically, when you install openSUSE, many restricted formats of media are not supported until you hook up with the repository Packman and update your media playing files. To actually view movies, you need to install the file libdvdcss to allow you to decode protected DVD’s in Linux. openSUSE is free software and can not include codecs for which some request royalties be paid from even as you can add these files from other sources yourself, to have a complete media experience in openSUSE. As for Totem, this is normally included with GNOME though I suggest you also install it with KDE. I do use it, but not to look at movies as I like to use Kaffeine. I did not see where you indicated the desktop that you are using so a little bit more about just what you have installed would be helpful to know.

Thank You,

Thanks for your help. I followed the guide in the FAQ and everything works great now.
I am running openSUSE 11.4 GNOME on a lenovo 3000 series laptop.
