Toshiba AC100 ARMHF Lubuntu OpenSUSE dual-boot with U-boot

Hi. I have Toshiba AC100 ARMHF running Lubuntu 14.04 LTS, and would like to try out OpenSUSE images that are specifically built for this special snowflake, but the problem is I am a bit of a greenhorn/newbie and don’t know how to preserve the current OS, which uses Ubuntu Img Bootloader or sth like that, and still be able to boot OpenSUSE from SD card, for example, which seems to be the recommended procedure here:

https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:ToshibaAC100

Is there a way, where I could possible dual-boot Lubuntu and Open SUSE with U-boot os some other bootloader? Does anybody know how to do that? Lubuntu install was brain-dead simple, just upload bootloader and plug in the SD card with the OS, but OpenSUSE is a bit more involved for the average schmuck. Thanks.

Hello,
Tumbleweed images for paz00 (AC100) default for external sdcard install and openSUSE require Toshiba AC100 to use opensource U-Boot bootloader. So it is difficult to use Ubuntu and openSUSE simultaneously because Ubuntu works only with proprietary bootloader.

From the little I’ve seen about u-boot,
It seems to be highly customized by each distro for its own boot needs
So, it’s unlikely you can modify it (from either distro) to multi-boot.

I’d also guess that it’s unlikely that you’d be able to chain bootloaders for the same reason.

But, I’ve seen that for a number of devices a master bootloader might work, so for instance I’d take a look to see if there are any rooting bootloaders available from XDA Developers (It’s “the” open source hacking community for everything embedded including ARM). If such a thing exists, then I’d guess with that you can multi-boot (You’ll also likely need enough on board storage to hold every OS you want to boot).

Else, I’d simply swap SDcards with a different OS on each.

IMO,
TSU
