Hi,
I was trying to install openSUSE 11.1 on my Toshiba laptop 1805-S204. I’ve been using the DVD disk for the installation. The disk boot OK, i can select all the options: language, resolution etc. After i select the Installation command there is a information: EDD Probing (or something like that), after that the problem starts. The screen goes black, no errors, no information, nothing. I left it for about 30 minutes, and still nothing. Can anyone tell me what can i do to fix this problem?
Hum, after reading your message a few times - I reckon’ this happens instantly after you choose Installation?
Does Failsafe work?
Well, the “Probing EDD” comes instantly, and stays for some time (about 5 minutes). And then the black screen.
I change settings of Kernel to Safe Settings, the same. Tried also the option Check Installation Media, and the same story: first Probing EDD and then black.
Failsafe? And how I select that? (Sorry for the stupid question.)
Safe settings is the Failsafe method.
If you simply type edd=off into the boot loader (the green screen before you choose installation) and then press enter, does it have any effect?
