tor -- the onion router

anyone have any luck getting tor to work on opensuse?

Yes, I suppose you are aware of the indication on how to get tor to work with opensuse but find that the original tor rpm package does not work. This is in my experience correct, there must be some kind of bug. To have a working tor you go into software search on the opensuse site and install the alfa version. It runs flawlessly.
If you need instead help on how to install tor in opensuse (edidting of rc-files and so on) you find this with google: tor privoxy opensuse.
Let me know if you have still problems.

You can use my package, it has the most recent version of the tor base
(0.2.1.22) and is built with the updated version of ssl.

Other packages are outdated (the project cycled the keys), or if they
claim to have the latest version (this includes the packman build) they
are built against the wrong version of openssl. (The original one
released with 11.2 not the updated one)

With kind regards,
