I installed the Tor browser and the tor browser launcher. Normally when starting tor the launcher downloads the latest version and the server listed is https://dist.torproject.org/. However I always get the Download Error:404 message. THere is the option to select mirrors and I tried several of them. Some don’t connect, with others I get the following:
Here the mirror is from EFF which I thought is reliable. I tried others where I would have thought I trust them (at least more than unknown URLs). It is always the same download error and the option to exit or switch the the default which had this 404 error in the first place. Am I doing something wrong or is the fault with those tor browser settings?
Not a Tor user myself, but, if you google “tor browser download error 404” there are quite a few very recent incidences of that being reported, just one for exampe: Error 404 when trying to install tor with torbrowser-launcher - Debian User Forums
Some sort of bug recently introduced perhaps?
Yes Tannington, I use tor when I want to make sure that big brothers Google, Facebook and co cannot track certain information about me. I have seen many of these Error 404 messages but there was one answer in an Ubuntu forum where someone suggested to edit the python launcher file with another tor version number and another country location. I am no programmer and I don’t understand much about this but if there is a solution like that may be someone in this forum knows about it. If not all that remains is to wait for an update which fixes this.
Tor Browser Launcher 0.3.6
Tor Browser 12.0 no longer uses locales, so the download URL and local path have changed
So you will need a bugreport for Leap 15.4
I messed up several times username and password here by trying to write a bug report. Again using the credentials for here do not log me in Bugzilla. I don’t know what the problem is but I won’t again try to sort the login out there and mess it up here for a bug report. I am happy that I could successfully change my email address here - that might be the problem why I cannot log into Bugzilla.
If the login window at Bugzilla only reloads without any error, that is a well known (and already reported Bug 1194193 – Difficult login to bugzilla.opensuse.org) bug. Try to use the login at the bottom of the main Bugzilla page…(not the one on top)
Bugzilla Main Page
Sorry hui, I see no log in on your link at the bottom. if I try to log in at the top it gives an error message. If I click on the login link at the bottom it goes to the same login which does not work. They obviously don’t like that people to send bug reports. As long as its not sorted I won’t send one.
If they want that bug reports are done why not have a link to Bubzilla from here that will take you there if you are logged in here?
@fuerstu have you gone through the self service? Password Settings
If still having issue then you need to send an email to admin{at}opensuse{dot}org to create a progress ticket for your issue.
@malcolmlewis when I tried last time to get the password reset it was changed for here as well. I had this done several 2 or 3 times in the last months and I don’t want to constantly change my passwords.
@fuerstu then create a ticket on the issue…
@malcolmlewis I presume I have to log in for that and I cannot
Uhm yes?! All openSUSE tools use the same login (username and PW) …wiki, bugzilla, forum, …
I don’t know about all but the password I use here I had changed to when resetting the password to log into Bugzilla. Was a few weeks before the forum was changed to this server. Now on this server I had to change my email address but I tried the new and the old one to log into Bugzilla. None worked.
Only to clarify: do you use your email adress as login name? Because normally it should be your username “fuerstu”…
@fuerstu no just send an email with your issue
OK @hui, I am surprised but used the username with the login link at the bottom of the page and it worked! (Previously I tried this at the login at the top and the email addresses and none worked). So I will file a bug report after all and I will remember next time to use this link to log in. May be they fix the login bug you mentioned too in the meantime…
There have been intermittent login problems at openSUSE bugzilla for a while now:
