?

I am running openSUSE 10.3. “Skim” or “Scim” is bothering me.
How do I get this pesky little thing to stop running? It starts when I boot
and no matter how often I tell it to quit, it just keeps on coming back!
How do I get rid of it permanently?

Actually, I am aware that this should have been posted in the kde section.
Problem is that I can only post in this ‘general’ section. Everytime I
attempt to post in another section, I get the following message:
“441 Posting Failed (Mailslaves have not been initialized)”
I have no idea what this means. I would be eternally grateful (well,
almost ) if someone could help me out here.

It looks like you are posting as a guest. Have you received an email from the forums to activate your account?

True, but aside from that, titling your post with an ambiguous and almost spam-like “?” instead of something useful or relevant almost guarantees you will not get the best number of eyeballs on your post.

As for SCIM, check to see if you have a ~/.config/autostart directory. If so, just remove the scim *.desktop file.

Hope this helps, and please try to title your posts more effectively in the future…

Cheers,
KV

“else where” you are quite right. I should have used a more helpfull title.
Actually, this was the result of an errant “return” finger.
Thanks for the tip about scim. No desktop file in ~/.config/autostart, but I
will keep looking.

Thanks Perpetual. Prior to the new setup with the newsgroups wich took place
a few weeks ago, I was able to post in all of the groups to which I
subscribed. I assumed that the subscriptions would have been carried over
automatically.
I did not receive the activation email to which you refer. Could you point
me in the direction of the “forum manager” so that I may request
permission? Thank you.
