‘top’ of course.

gnome-system-monitor

Probably something for KDE too, but not sure what.

Good luck.

there’s also ‘htop’, which i find a little easier on the eye; otherwise i
don’t know if there’s any difference.

in KDE4 there’s ksysguard. if called via the keyboard shortcut
<ctrl>+<esc> it shows only the running processes, with some options what
to show and how to sort everything. if called via ‘ksysguard’, either from
CLI or an icon somewhere, there’s an additional graphic display of CPU
activity, memory, and network traffic. other meterss can be configured
and/or downloaded (didn’t try that in a long time).

Since I refer to it frequently, I just added the ksysguard widget to the
toolbar. Gives you a default setup with the page for running processes one
for some graphic display of elementary memory, CPU and network. Really
sinple to configure a custom page - I put temps and additional CPU
performance/clock displays on it to see the most common set of info I want
to see.

If you are using KDE4, then right click on the desktop and select “add widgets”. Then type “monitor” in the search box. There are several there. If you are using Gnome, I can’t help with that one.

GKrellM is my favourite.
