To the openSuse team: I'd like to buy an app

To the openSuse team:

Dear all,

you’ve done a good job with 12.1, like you did since 8.2, which was the first version I bought. Thank you very much.

After so many years, I do not need advice how to install. I do not need another box with DVDs, and besides that, my DVD-player is broken, anyway. I do not like the thought of buying 12.1 in a box and throw that unopended into the litterbox as soon as I get it, because I do not need it and besides that, my wife will kill me, if I bring more books and DVDs on Linux.

But I’d really like to show my respect for your work. Can’t you design an app – let’s say a green dot – anybody can buy for 30-40 Euros and install it on the desktop? I promise to buy it. Perhaps you even can offer a smaller green-dot-app for students.

Kind regards,

Alexander

I think you can support openSUSE by buying some fan articles, but I am
not sure if that money goes to openSUSE project or if it is something
unrelated to the project.

‘they’ have been talking for several years about setting up a
foundation…which ‘they’ say has to be done before money can be donated…

how about this (for now): if you have been using SuSE, SUSE, openSUSE
since 8.2 then why not just drop by here and lend a hand every once in a
while…we have, ever day (no kidding) folks drop into here with zero
understanding of (say) bash, or a tarball or …

and, maybe you could answer a few questions on the basics…

and, of course (as the other poster said) buy a T-Shirt/hat/whatever and
wear it…or, a coffee cup for use at work… or spread the good word
however you can…hook up with your local Linux User Group and do some
hand holding…

or, if you are an attorney maybe you could join up with ‘they’ and push
them off the dime and get the foundation laid!

just wild and crazy thoughts (i understand that your time is worth a
lot, so maybe you only help for an hour . . .)

What about green dots that multiply…

Indeed, I’m a German lawyer. Yes, I’d like to help openSuse with my experience in company law, if necessary. How do we proceed?

YIPEE!!

i don’t know the best way to proceed, but i’d guess (hope) your first
post to the openSUSE project mail list might be well received (if you
take the trouble to read the list etiquette aka: “netiquette” before you
join, here http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mailing_list_netiquette

and then join/subscribe using the info here:
http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Mailing_lists_subscription#Subscribing
to subscribe to “opensuse-project”

you just might, in that initial note reference this thread
http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php?t=468688 and your willingness
to help move along the process of setting up a foundation…(which i
guess needs to be set up in Germany, as that is where suse.de exists!!)

YIPEE!!
