TLP and kernel 19.x

I almost always install TLP on my laptop for power management. In some latest articles on the internet people write that since the latest kernel, this is not really needed anymore, because these kernels handle this very well themselves. Furthermore, TLP seems to be very aggressive. I’m somewhat confused an need some advice. With TLP running, my laptop uses it’s fans less often  Is it OK to run TLP with the latest series 19 kernels? Or do I need another utility?

TLP gets installed, and activated at multi-user.target on Tumbleweed by default. If the kernel defnitely makes the service obsolete, I trust the openSUSE packagers to adjust the install to that new situation. My 2 cents.
