TIDAL on LEAP 15.4 successfully installed

Hi ,

I prefer to list to CD quality sound ! So Tidal was the answer !

And here the howto for Leap15.4

There is a libXtst6 available search for it if not already installed , install !

Goto

https://github.com/Mastermindzh/tidal-hifi/releases

download

tidal-hifi-4.0.1.x86_64.rpm

install with yast

an error msg will come up libXtst missing

Ignore and install anyway !

There will be a second error msg , look at the details … ignore !

( when you later on go into Yast Software Management a conflict msg re tidal will come up … ignore => maybe somebody can find a way to work around it eg create a libXtst … please let me know )

…finished

You may find the application under " Lost and Found "

…move it to eg Multimedia

Works out of the box !!!

Enjoy

… technically , I would beat more at ease having a " libXtst " please , if you have a solution …

Hi
Is libXtst6 installed?

yeah … libXtst6 is installed. …and I guess that makes it work. However yast complains whenever you are in SW management about a missing libXtst . so basically one has to ignore it .

I can see 2 solutions : one is : a libXtst being available

the other solution is : the tidal rpm is altered to accept libXtst6.

Third option; create a dummy package that provides libXtst.

I had to create one because Grafana developers are drooling idiots and don’t understand anything about rpm packaging (their download section says to use --no-deps to install the package and this of course causes all kinds of fun issues).

… do you still have this dummy package ??? would it be suitable to solve the problem ?

There’s one example here;
https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home%3Ahayos/shadow-utils

Just adapt it to your needs with the suitable package name or Provides: - you can use OBS to build and host it or build it locally.

… how do you do that ??? thanks

Hi
Something like this: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:malcolmlewis:TESTING/libXtst

excellent !!! thank you

I don’t know how many TIDAL users are around here, … a little howto for interested forum members could be useful

what do you think ? I am happy to write it . if you could review it and post it …

cheers

Otto

PS
just went into Software Management … now conflict msg : nothing provides " NSS " … there is nss installed but not under that specific name . I wonder how many more of those msg one would get

Does the application have a MQA codec to play hi-res audio?

… not as far as I know , no reference found in installation.
