Thunderbird so old in Tumbleweed repo

Any particular reason the Thunderbird app is so old in the Tumbleweed repos?
140.13 as opposed to 153.x for ubuntu et al??
I use multiboot, and this just makes it difficult, as they are never in unison.
Is there a Mozzilla/Thunderbird repo I could add to bring it a bit more up-to-date, or do I have to do it manually?

Thanks, but not sure that addresses my query? (No, didn’t read it all).
I would have thought that Thunderbird versions on tumbleweed would, if any thing, be more up to date than on Ubuntu…, and not be many releases behind?

As a Tumbleweed user, perhaps you need to keep an eye on the Factory Mailing list?

Understood … TW == rolling release, constantly updated.

It’s been my experience that not all third-party software follows that trend. Maybe the Thunderbird is an “extended release”? I think openSUSE does that with Firefox. (but I don’t use Mozilla software, so not certain).

And yes … I certainly did not answer questions 1 and 2 … but the third one. No doubt someone will be along soon :+1:

Thunderbird 153.0.2 is available from the Mozilla:repo, see https://download.opensuse.org/repositories/mozilla/openSUSE_Tumbleweed/

Fedora uses and Suse can use RPM files, both offer source for study that may help mozilla maintainer(s) (Wolfgang) overcome the current dillema mentioned in the mail list and can help end users with an alternative upgrade path to study for themselves to compare how op handled the problem.

This is food for thought in hopes that it will help and lead to an educational opportunity.

Are you sure? Currently Firrfox and Thundebird ESR are in the transition from version 140 to 153. To my understanding Tumbleweed uses ESR for both, Thunderbird and Firefox. Just Firefox already made the switch from 140 to 153 in the oss repo.
