Hello:
Running KDE 4.8.5 on openSUSE 12.2 Linux 3.4.11-2.16-desktop x86_64 KDE 4.8.5 (4.8.5) “release 2”
AMD Athlon™ II X4 640 Processor - Video = C61 [GeForce 7025/nForce 630a]:
I have a bad install of Mozilla Thunderbird 17.02.2-49.27.2-x86_64 from Yast2 and am trying to uninstall to start over from scratch. Here’s what I have run into - I’m a noob in this area, and am totally stumped:
Zypper search of installed packages for “thunderbird”:
THISBOX:~ # zypper se thunderbird

which shows the “tracker-miner-thunderbird”, a dependency when installing Thunderbird.
I tried uninstalling thunderbird, which should also uninstall the “tracker”:
max@THISBOX:~> sudo zypper rm thunderbird

So “packages” are “installed” when searched for. Uninstalling thunderbird did not uninstall the “tracker” because it is already “uninstalled”, but when I look for “information” on thunderbird…
max@THISBOX:~> sudo zypper if MozillaThunderbird

They are both “Installed”.
Checking repo data, zypper wants to uninstall whatever it finds in order to resolve verification:

So they both show as “Installed” and “Uninstalled” - I think. This thing has me so confused that I don’t know WHAT it’s saying anymore. Since I can’t seem to “uninstall” these “installed” programs, I decided to try “IN-stalling” them again so as to give it something to “UN-install”:
max@THISBOX:~> sudo zypper in MozillaThunderbird

It’s a long post, I know, but I’m going nuts. It’s “Catch-22” - (or Schroedinger’s cat?) - I can’t install it, can’t uninstall it, can’t run it, and am dead in the water. Anyone know what I can do to get Thunderbird running again?
Thanks to anyone who can shed light…
