Thunderbird 3.1.8 / openSuSE 11.4 / Tools / Import / Import Everything / ... (dead end)

Hello,

I have noticed that in Thunderbird, when following the path

Tools → Import → Import Everything

there are no options (arrived at a “dead end”).

Anybody else experiencing this too?

HI,
What do you want to import?

From Tb to Tb, just copy the directory /.thunderbird to your /home

Hello phiga,

thanks for the feedback. However, the point is that I think I have found a bug in Thunderbird, and would like to get it confirmed before I report it ( I have found similar errors reported on Bugzilla going back to 2002, is it the same?).

I get Nothing on the 2nd screen.
"Import Preferences, Account Settings, Address Book, Filters and other data from:
<blank list>

Do you have another email program on the system?

Before firing off a “bug” report, you may wish to make certain it’s not a “feature” or a missing applicable import-able mailbox on your system.

Seems right to me.

You don’t get a dialog box opening called Import Wizard that allows you to Import Settings and Mail Folders from Netscape 6, 7, Mozilla 1.x or SeaMonkey, or something similar if you have a previous Thunderbird installation? If not then you probably have nothing to import from, therefore there would be no options.

Hello rafter22,

you asked

I think I have problems expressing myself clearly. New attempt:

  1. Start Thunderbird
  2. Click “Tools”
  3. Click “Import…”
  4. Click “Import everything” (no menu opens)
  5. Click “Next”
  6. Click “Next” (nothing happens)
  7. Click “Cancel”
  8. Click “Tools”
  9. Click “Import”
  10. Click “Mail”
  11. Click “Next”
  12. Now you have the (only) option to import from Communicator 4.x
  13. Click “Next” (message: Unable to …)
  14. Click “Finish”
  15. Click “Tools”
  16. Click “Import”
  17. Click “Settings”
  18. See if you can import something
  19. (Reply to this e-mail if everything worked OK for you)

Thanks,
J C Anker
